The holidays can be fabulously exciting and also hectic for us parents. Even though we may be spending lots of time with our children, it may not be the quality time that really fills their (or our) emotional cups. Here is a sweet, kid paced, family friendly way to celebrate New Years that will help you spend the quality time with your kids that helps everyone feel more connected. Come for dancing, games, and a countdown with a New Years toast. Great for families with 2-8 year olds.
Movement and Reflection time
9-10:00 am PST
The Winter Solstice is on Tuesday, December 21, 2021
In preparation for this, we will meet ourselves, and each other, in two ways... moving and writing.
I will curate a special playlist to help us journey into what the theme of SOLSTICE, the balance of LIGHT and DARK, means for us.
After the moving, there will be opportunities for quiet reflection and sharing based on prompts given or anything that moves you through the dance.
This is a free event for all women in honor of the changing season.
From the Farmers Almanac, "The winter solstice is the astronomical first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day of the year.
For the northern half of Earth (the Northern Hemisphere), the winter solstice occurs annually on December 21 or 22. (For the Southern Hemisphere, the winter solstice occurs on June 20 or 21.) The winter solstice is the day with the fewest hours of sunlight in the whole year, making it the "shortest day" of the year. Thankfully, after we reach the winter solstice, the days begin to once again grow longer and longer until we reach the summer solstice—the first day of summer and the longest day of the year.
Think of it this way: Although the winter solstice means the start of winter, it also means the return of more sunlight. It only gets brighter from here!”
When we can stop and honor the significance of our experiences and the transitions we experience in our lives, we discover and reclaim a sense of wonder, strength and connectedness. The holidays are a time ripe with the possibility for this reclamation. By infusing our traditions with the powerful tool of Ritual, we move closer to having a holiday that is deeply satisfying on many levels.
The word Ritual can mean many different things to many different people based on their experience of it. Sometimes these experiences have been transformative, and sometimes they have felt weird, or lacking in meaning and resonance. Many people may not be sure how to do it, even if they wanted to. My desire is to make this healing, symbolic artform accessible to everyone, regardless of their experience or their spiritual leanings. By first understanding our primal need for the powerful, creative container Ritual provides for us, we can find modern, personally relatable ways to process the holidays- whether our plans are big or small, public or private.
From the very big changes to the small shifts that influence our lives, this interactive workshop will offer you an opportunity to learn more about Ritual and explore some strategies for using this creative expression in your own life. To put the information gained during our time together into practice, we will co-create an End-of-the-Year community Ritual, a New Year’s Ceremony, to mark our collective transition into another year.
I’m excited to be speaking in partnership with RevelEleven, a dynamic community of women who are changing the world through inspiration, information, and personal growth.

10-10:30 am PST
Writing time
This is a time for our creative meandering on what emerged from the dance and prompts tied to the movement theme. At the end of our writing time, we will save room for sharing. It's so valuable to have someone to witness us and to have an opportunity to witness ourselves.
Come join the fun and learn about the SUPER POWERFUL parenting tool of… SPECIAL TIME.
I will provide for you, an hour long “container” for you to get to DELIGHT in your child/children, setting the stage for being able to use this tool going forward.
During our hour together, the energy will flow at a kid-paced rhythm with plenty of opportunity to connect as a big group and to connect in your families.
Our time together in the RUMPUS, is all about connection. So to support your parenting, when you register, you will receive a bit of information about what SPECIAL TIME is (hint, it has a twist you may not have heard of) and the benefits of doing this regularly with our children, no matter their age.
Is your child having a hard time separating from you?
Unresolved feelings about separation are often at the root of difficult behaviors-withdrawal, biting, whining and pickiness.
In this talk, you will learn how to add the warm sand connection necessary to resolve separation fears and inspire confidence and connection.

Motherhood is full of joy and pain, celebration and grief, holding on tight and being able to let go. How do we move through these transitions in a way that honors our real, often untold experience?
Magdalena Garcia has worked with children and families as an educator and school leader in various settings, from large inner city public schools to a small non-profit elementary school she co-founded. She believes that when we as mothers give ourselves permission to celebrate fiercely and grieve fully, we experience a level of transformational personal development.
We will explore:
How to see the transitions we experience as mothers as a profound personal development opportunity
How to deepen traditional celebrations as an opportunity for true healing and joy
What the tools are for a robust celebration and grief practice
How to gather support for crossing a threshold in either yours or your child’s life
How to support your child’s expression of joy and grief
About Magdalena Garcia: Magdalena is a mother, storyteller, educator, creator and ceremony leader. For the last 25 years, she has led families through a trauma-informed, social justice approach that puts respectful, deep listening of the heart, mind and body at the core. Understanding the unique power of ceremony for healing, she creates opportunities for embodied storytelling with adults and children as they navigate the big and small thresholds (milestones or transitions) of their lives.
Now that the school year has officially started for many families, you and your child may be a few months in and the honeymoon may be over! In my experience of working in school settings for 25 years, October is when it can start getting rough for children, parents AND teachers.
In almost every family, emotional boulders will fall onto children's paths as they try to navigate school. Parents try incentives, strict expectations, lectures, pleading, logical consequences, and more. But the difficulties remain.
I'll offer a new set of ideas and give parents 2 specific tools for helping to relieve the tension that builds when a child faces a difficult assignment or social situation. I'll answer questions and show how parents can help their child build confidence, solve problems, and gain competence.
7:00-8:00PM PST Special Time for us Parents!
No need to learn anything new or change anything in your parenting! Just come and offload tensions with other parents by having fun.
